Strange illnesses and incidents abound in the globe, and with the advent of social media, even those who were unaware of them occasionally learn about them. Today, we're going to share with you one of those unexpected incidents that even the doctors found shocking.
In the European nation of Czech Republic, an odd thing has occurred. where medical professionals surgically plucked hair the size of a lassi glass off an 11-year-old girl's stomach.
A hospital in the Czech Republic has reportedly reported that medical staff retrieved a glass-sized mass of hair from a girl's stomach.
In reality, the girl who is eating hair is mentally ill. The first incidence of "Rapunzel Syndrome," which affects an 11-year-old girl, was recorded in 1968; barely a dozen or so such cases have been documented since then.
"Hair-eating and hair-scratching illnesses are connected to this one. From childhood through adolescence, this illness affects the majority of girls "explained Mats Petija, the chief medical officer of the Opava hospital in the Czech Republic.
The girl's stomach hairs were up to 8 inches long and 3 inches thick, making it impossible to remove them orally, therefore the doctor performed surgery to do it. Dr. Martis Petija continues, "The girl would have experienced extreme agony and eventually lost weight if the hair had not been removed from the stomach." He adds, "The stomach could have hurt and the hair could have spread all over the body if the girl had not been brought in time."
